Just enough
The other day I was asked if I was eating enough food. I sometimes wonder if people feel guilty because of how much food THEY eat. I know that's how I would react to others when my eating was out of control. I've finally found a good relationship with my food and I'm happy! I don't need to be stuffed and I understand what satisfied really is.
The original recipe used chicken which is equally good! I cooked 5 jumbo shrimp in a nonstick skillet with cooking spray & 2 oz whole grain thin spaghetti (separate of course) then put them together in the skillet the shrimp was cooked in and added 2 Tbsp of the sauce. I then steamed some broccoli and voila, 358 calories of tasty goodness! The above calorie total is for the shrimp not chicken.

spaghetti dinner!
Had such a yummy dinner tonight!
Spaghetti (2 oz. eating right whole grain thin spaghetti.....200 cal.)
Trader Giotto's Recipe #99 Traditional Marinara Sauce (1/4 cup....25 cal.)
Garlic Bread:
Trader Joe's Crushed Wheat Sourdough Bread (1 slice.....70 cal.)
Brummel & brown yogurt spread (1 teaspoon...15 cal.)
garlic powder (1/4 tsp.....2 cal.)
onion powder (1/4 tsp....2 cal.)
shredded Parmesan cheese (3 grams....14 cal.)
328 total calories.....okay, okay, I had two pieces of bread: 431 calories, still pretty good in my book!
My boys thought they were getting the treat of a lifetime. I think it's the Trader Joe's Crushed Wheat Sourdough Bread.....WOW is it GOOD!

WORKOUTS!
Monday, April 9th:
WORKOUT: 40 minute elliptical workout {400ish calories}. Kept it at a level 1 for the whole workout....it's been a while okay!
FOOD LOG: So Monday was my most accurate day so far. I kept VERY good track of my food/water intake and came down to 1498 calories/47.5fatg/?g fiber.
Tuesday, April 10th:
WORKOUT: 40 minute elliptial workout {400ish calories} (see above)
FOOD LOG: Tuesday was pretty good, I know I didn't go OVER on my calories for sure! But as for an actual count....couldn't tell ya!
Wednesday, April 11th:
WORKOUT: 30 minute elliptical workout {400ish calories}. Okay, so you're wondering how my 30 minute workout could burn as many calories as my 40 minute workout? I used the programmed workout and it just about KILLED ME!!!!
FOOD LOG: Wednesday was {and always is}fun crazy busy for me so I'm sure you've already guessed that my food log was only half done and I can assure you that I DID go over on my calories. Probably not by a lot but enough :(
Water for all three days was spot on! WOOHOO for THAT!

NEW ELLIPTICAL!
The hubs and I have been talking for a while now about getting an elliptical. I've had a LOT of success in the past with them and love that they give you a low impact 'run'. I cancelled my gym membership and wanted to get a REALLY awesome elliptical....BUT, knowing just how much ca$h I'd have to fork out I opted for a little ole' cheap thing for the time being. My sister-in-law bought a very inexpensive elliptical a year ago and she's lost 40lbs!!! I'll be happy if the little money we spent leaves me 40lbs. lighter. I've still got my eye on the fancy model and have decided that the awesome one will have to be my reward. 40 minute workout.....check!

The 100
The past few days I've been exercising lightly to get back into the swing of things. I'm feeling like I need to abandon the idea of running another half-marathon....at least for a year and stick to weight training and occasional cardio. Last week I took 3 days and focused on 3 different body areas. Monday I worked on my core area, Wednesday I did upper body, while Friday was lower body. Today I decided to be a little more proactive in my working out and tried The 100 Workout. It KICKED my rear!!....and it felt SO good!! I'm still deciding what I will be doing on Wednesday of this week, but will let you know.
p.s. I had to take some breaks during the crunches and leg lifts, but I'd still say that I did really well and pushed myself harder than I have in a VERY long time!

the only downfall
Woohoo! I ran yesterday and it felt SO good to be pounding the pavement again. Okay, I'll admit that I actually only ran about 1/3 of the time but in the physical condition that I'm in these days I'd say that that is AWESOME! The only downfall is that about 2/3 of the way through the run/walk something happened to my left foot and I was feeling some pain for a short amount of time. It soon subsided and I was back to it....I should have taken that as a clue. When I got home I started feeling familiar pain again like the plantar fasciitis. I'll just have to baby it and hope for the best. I'm not going to let this get me down (my husband won't let me bless his heart). Happy and (getting) healthy!

dinner and a challenge
Mmmm, baked Cajun salmon, roasted asparagus and brown rice. Seriously a good dinner tonight! So I've been challenged today. My husband, daughter and I are going to compete (with ourselves) over the summer to achieve our goals. There will be no 1st 2nd and 3rd, just have you met your goal? If the answer is yes you get $200!! Wow, that would be great for buying all the new clothes I'll need for my skinny/healthy self! I'm getting prepared for summer start date of June 20th. I'll keep you posted.
